A Cath Lab Staple October 8, 2000 Katie Vento (miami, florida USA) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
The cardiac catheterization handbook is the essential reference for the cardiac cath lab. The book covers a wide range of topics including the cath lab organization, hemodynamics, electrophysiology, angiography and interventions. There are some great diagrams that compare catheter shape and radiographic views which are very helpful for those new to cath lab.
Useful reference November 10, 2004 Thomas A. Buckingham (Bratislava) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This is an excellent concise introduction to cardiac catheterization. This book is now in its 4rth edition published in 2003 and includes a wealth of material on the basics of this field. 650 pages encompass 10 chapters on topics such as arterial and venous acess, hemodynamic data, angiographic data, EP studies and ablation, research techniques, special techniques, high-risk cardiac catheterization, and interventional techniques. The book includes specific, how-to information. However, this short text is not intended to fully teach such advanced techniques as catheter ablation or interventional cardiology. Very useful tables and clear diagrams are included (496 illustrations).
This book is highly recommended for newcomers to the field and as a reference text.
