Product Description Unlike any other care plan book on the market, this resource contains selected care plans for pediatric, maternity, and psychiatric nursing in addition to medical-surgical nursing care plans for adult care. This is the only care planning resource that allows you to use one book throughout your nursing curriculum. Color-coded medical-surgical, maternity, pediatric, and psychiatric sections help you quickly find each content area while giving the book a full-color look and feel.
- Clinical experts update each subject area to ensure the most current, accurate, and clinically relevant content available.
- Each care plan employs a consistent format of Overview/Pathophysiology, Health Care Setting, Assessment, Diagnostic Tests, Nursing Diagnoses, Desired Outcomes, Interventions with Rationales, and Patient-Family Teaching and Discharge Planning.
- An open and attractive two-color design facilitates quick and easy retrieval of information.
- Nursing interventions and rationales are listed in a clear two-column format to make the information more accessible.
- Related NIC intervention and NOC outcome labels are listed for each nursing diagnosis.
- The Patient-Family Teaching and Discharge Planning section highlights key patient education topics and list resources for further information.
- Health Care Setting is specified for each care plan, since different conditions are treated in various settings such as hospital, primary care, long-term care facility, community, and home care.
- Outcome criteria with specific timelines enable nurses to set realistic goals for nursing outcomes and provide quality, cost-effective care.
- Detailed rationales for each nursing intervention help you to apply concepts to clinical practice.
- Includes the most recent NANDA Taxonomy II nursing diagnoses.
- Separate care plans on Pain and Palliative and End-of-Life Care focus on palliative care for patients with terminal illnesses, as well as relief of acute and chronic pain.
- A new "Overview/Pathophysiology" heading helps you easily locate this key content.

Excellent July 5, 2005 Nursing Student (USA) 24 out of 24 found this review helpful
I reviewed 4 different Nursing care plan books; overall, this one is the best and clearest. I would highly recommend this one over others. It is the only one that clearly articulates, NUMERICALLY, what a nursing goal should aim to achieve so you can actually MEASURE if your interventions were successful. Oh..and it really is easy to read.
Best Care planning book for nursing students April 19, 2005 K. Camm (Philadelphia, PA) 24 out of 25 found this review helpful
This is the best book I've found to do those pain-staking care plans when I was in Nursing school. Info is easy to find & the interventions & rationals are short & sweet:)
Kiss your NANDA stress away! February 1, 2007 K. Opena 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I've got to say I love the way this book was organized. It goes from clinical areas (MEDSURG, OB, PEDs,etc.) to body systems (GI, neuro, etc.) to disease/condtions to NANDAs r/t to the cause (also pertinent interventions/rationales/lab values). Highly recommended to those who do not want to pull all nighters to finish their care plans or carry numerous expensive books with information you may never use. Instead zip through them like pros and only have one great book at hand!
Highly Recommended! June 11, 2008 Kathleen M. Roberts (MN) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My instructor suggested I get All-in-One because it will serve me through my rotations (Med-Surg, Peds, OB and Psych.) I love this book! It is so much better than the one we were required to buy. It is the only care plan book I've seen that gives measurable outcomes, which are so helpful in practice, not just in writing the plans. The rationales are detailed and easy to understand, and I quickly find what I am looking for. Highly recommended!
Great for nursing students! April 8, 2009 A. Powell (Monkton, MD) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is fantastic for nursing students. In one volume, you have a resource for med/surg, peds, L&D and psych care plans. This makes it an economical and well-rounded textbook choice. The text is well organized and accessible. Each of the four major sections highlights specific medical diagnoses, with information about the pathophysiology of the diagnosis. It details appropriate nursing diagnoses associated with each of the medical diagnoses and includes a wealth of patient education, interventions, important assessments and tests based on the latest evidence-based practice. It also includes measurable outcomes! The book is easy to use. The color coding is simple. The index is complete. And it includes NIC and NOC outcomes and uses NANDA terminology. This book helped me create successful care plans as well as allowing me to more easily carry theory into my clinical practice as a nursing student. I highly recommend it as a resource.
